This day I saw DevilDriver, August Burns Red, Anthrax Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Emmure, Refused, Dropkick Murphys and Rise Against
- First band i saw today was DevilDriver, 5th time i’d seen em, and this time was just like the last time, really good, but not incredible, a circle pit had opened even before they had got on stage haha, and this continued right up until the end, pits galore as always. overal they get a (4/5) because i have seen better performances. was good that a group of us got on the screen :p.
- next up was August Burns Red, they were pretty damn awesome, again a set i wish was longer, and too many newer albums songs, they rarerly play old songs anymore which kinda annoys me, apart from that, they played a very strong set with a really good crowd reaction, especially with the random Spanish dancing during “Internal Cannon” (4/5)
- I watched Anthrax purely out of boredom waiting for my next set to see, so i watched them in the distance while i had some food, they werent bad tbh, very good crowd responce, rather amusing when joey belladonna starts running around with a Native Indian chief hat, also pretty amusing when i think security dont realise hes part of the band and one of them grabs him when hes at the crowd barrier hahah (3/5)
- Shadows fall are a band i like, just not as much as i sometimes feel i should, because they do put on impressive shows, they put on a really good set, playing a couple of tracks i REALLY like, like the monster songs like “King of Nothing” and finish their set with “The Light That Blinds” again a pretty good crowd reaction, and plenty of dreadlock windmilling hahah (3/5)
- Lamb of God come on next on the Main Stage, with possibly the best set of the weekend for me, they control that stage like they should be headlining in my opinion, and soon i think they should in the next couple of years, once again, like DevilDriver, the crowd was already circle pitting before they come on to the stage, was pretty much a greatest hits set with 2 new tracks, but the new tracks are still go down a treat, forever a growing band and forever crushing the fans with the beast of a song that is Black Label! (5/5)
- possible the 2nd best set of the entire weekend was Emmure’s in the Pepsi Max tent, i was completely shocked how packed that tent got and at how good the atmosphere was when they came on to open with “children of Cybertron”, it was pretty amazing, the crunching breakdowns destroyed that tent and it beat was awesome to dance to, Frankie Palmeri owned that stage, definately growing to be one of my favourite frontmen! (5/5)
- I decided to see Refused, and to be honest i wasnt sure how they would be, when you are out of the industry no playing together for so long, you may be rusty, but they seemed far from it, the guys now in their 40’s seem really appreciative of the crowd they got and very energetic, i recognised a few songs, and they seemed to perform them tightly, but the moment everyone seemed there for was when they played their last song, “New Noise” their most popular song, and everything went a bit wild, worth watching them just for that alone. (5/5)
- Dropkick Murphys is one of the sets i was most looking forward to all weekend, and once again they performed incredibly well, the only bad thing was they seemed quiet, compared to their set back in February, but it was super fun, lots of dancing to awesome Irish punk, always a band i will enjoy seeing, was gutted they didnt finish with “kiss me i’m shitfaced” though (5/5)
- Last set of the Entire weekend for me was Rise Against, i quite like them, and i was more interested in seeing them than Black Sabbath (here comes all the hate because of the unpopular opinion haha) they were pretty good, not a bad set, though i could easily improve the song list, really shocked that they didnt play “state of the union”. The crowd was lively, lots of jumping around, singing along and mosh/circle pits, really good shout to finish the weekend for the 2nd stage. (4/5)
